Rigour Above All
We recruit for the capacity to think precisely, build models honestly, and defend findings under pressure. We do not reward confidence without evidence.
IBClay & Company recruits for intellect, rigour, and character. If you want to do economics at the highest standard — applied to the decisions that shape African enterprises and economies — this is where that work happens.
At IBClay & Company, the work is real from day one. There is no “practice” phase, no bench time, no shadow assignments. Every person who joins is engaged on live client problems — building models that matter, producing findings that boards act on, and contributing to an institution that is being built to last.
We are an economics firm. Our primary output is analytical rigour — and the quality of that rigour is entirely determined by the quality of the people who produce it. That is why we take hiring seriously, and why we invest heavily in every person who joins us.
We operate at a price point that makes us accessible to organisations across the African market — and we deliver at a standard that makes us credible to any board in the world. The gap between those two expectations is where our people grow.
We are early in our institutional journey. That means the people who join now do not just fill roles — they shape the culture, the methodology, and the character of a firm that is designed to endure for a hundred years.
We recruit for the capacity to think precisely, build models honestly, and defend findings under pressure. We do not reward confidence without evidence.
Every person at IBClay & Company is accountable for the quality of their output — not just the effort they put in. We measure outcomes, not activity.
We are building an institution, not executing a quarterly plan. Every team member contributes to a firm that is designed to outlast any individual engagement — or any individual.
We do not have open roles at this moment. We are building carefully — and will only hire when the right combination of role, candidate, and institutional readiness exists. The roles below represent the positions we are building toward.
If you are an outstanding economist, researcher, or strategist who wants to be considered for future roles, we welcome expressions of interest at hello@ibclay.com.
You will build and run economic models — demand curves, price elasticity analyses, market sizing, and value leakage frameworks — that form the analytical backbone of client engagements. You think in systems, communicate in evidence, and never confuse a narrative with a finding.
You will design and execute primary and secondary research across sectors — gathering the empirical evidence that powers every IBClay engagement. You are rigorous about methodology, honest about limitations, and relentless about the quality of the source.
You will work directly with clients on their highest-stakes strategic decisions — market entry, organisational design, growth architecture. Your role is to translate economic findings into clear strategic choices. You are comfortable with ambiguity and decisive in the face of it.
A structured 12-month fellowship for exceptional graduates who want to understand how a premium advisory institution operates from the inside. You will rotate across practices, support live engagements, and build the analytical and professional foundations of an economics career.
If you are an economist, researcher, or strategist who believes in the IBClay mandate, we want to hear from you — even when we are not actively hiring. Express your interest and we will reach out when the right opportunity exists.
